Question: Can I read your second WWII trilogy out of order?

A reader recently asked if my second trilogy, Don’t Tell the Nazis, Trapped in Hitler’s Web and Traitors Among Us can can be read out of order.

My answer: While there is enough context in each of the novels so that they can be read as standalones, to get a true picture of Krystia and Maria’s experiences in WWII, they should be read in chronological order, which is:

Read this book first. Note: it was first published in Canada with the title Don’t Tell the Enemy
Read this novel second
Read this novel third.

Trapped in Hitler’s Web, Jan 23 event

Marta Czurylowicz did a wonderful job of moderating this virtual book event, or should I say events? It was supposed to be a single presentation but in order to reduce the audience size we did two back to back presentations. The questions were very interesting! I was thrilled to find out that Marta received an autographed copy of Hope’s War from her mother as a gift twenty years ago and receiving that book was one of the reasons she decided to go into journalism. That makes me so happy! Many thanks to Tania Onyschuk of Koota Ooma who organized the virtual event, and the Shevchenko Scientific Society for hosting the webinar. Thanks also to TWUC and the Canada Council for funding.

Book launch for Trapped

The Brantford Public Library hosted the Zoom book launch for Trapped in Hitler’s Web, with children’s librarian Anna Flaherty as the moderator. It was a wonderful conversation, with live Q&A from all over North America. I was particularly thrilled that quite a number of classes participated. This photo was taken by Kristina Hart at Boulder Peak Intermediate. We can’t hug during this pandemic, and I can’t autograph in person, but I was able to reach far more people with this book launch than I’ve ever been able to with past book launches. (I’m still missing the hugs though ….)

Podcast review of Trapped in Hitler’s Web, plus some really great music!

At the 22.32 mark of this episode of Nash Holos, Myra Junyk gives a wonderful review of Trapped in Hitler’s Web, but the entire podcast is great. Paulette MacQuarrie selects excellent Ukrainian and Jewish music.
