black coffee

Okay. I did it. I took the plunge. I am no longer a cream addict. I am still a coffee addict, but at zero calories, what’s the problem with that? For the last three days I have been drinking my coffee black and I really quite enjoy it.

My mother has been drinking black coffee for years. She is very particular about her coffee and so am I. Years ago, when she was Executive Director of the Red Cross in Brantford, she would have to visit a number of people in a professional capacity and they would always offer her coffee. She found coffee with powdered creamer disgusting and coffee with milk was ick. Coffee with cream is divine, but black coffee, even if it’s weak coffee or old coffee, tastes better than adulterated coffee.

  1. Wow, you’re a braver woman than I . I like the cream to smooth out the acid. And I have fond memories of powdered creamer from when I was a kid and my grandmother would feed me coffee . Not good for my waistline, though, I’m sure. Congrats to you!

    1. Hi Julie,

I have been wanting to give up cream in my coffee for a long long time but couldn’t bring myself to do it. What’s neat is how good the coffee tastes without it. Plus, I’m not making it as strong as I used to. I was making my single daily 14oz cup with six scoops of freshly ground coffee. I’ve reduced that to three scoops and the flavour’s still there.

  2. I’m just a teetotaller (which I drink straight, except when I add Grand Marnier). But if I happen to drink a coffee, it’s usually the creamiest sugariest one I can find at Starbucks or Timmies. 😉

    1. Hi Maggie,
I like my tea with a bit of milk in it unless it’s herbal and then I drink it straight like you. Gotta say though Maggie, the way you drink your coffee, you could just put a Coffee Crisp in a blender and get the same effect. (big smiles)
