A Christmas to Remember

It was satisfying to write a short story about my character Anya from Prisoners in the Promised Land for this Dear Canada Christmas anthology. Lots of great stories in this collection. In addition to my own, there are two by Jean Little, one from Carol Matas, Karleen Bradford, two from Maxine Trottier, two by Julie Lawson, one from Sarah Ellis and one from Perry Nodelman.

Author: Marsha

I write historical fiction, mostly from the perspective of young people who are thrust in the midst of war.

    1. Fantastic. It’d be a great opportunity to explore a character further. (And about the cover…which is lovely…nowadays, that boy’d be wearing a safety helmet and wouldn’t be allowed that gas lamp…and the boxes’d be filled with video games. Will we have nostalgic seasonal drawings a hundred years from now with those in them? Will people from the future feel all warm and fuzzy about them? It’ll be interesting to find out, looking out from our brain jars in our eterno-pods…)

  1. Congratulations!

There was another Christmas collection before this, wasn’t there? I love catching glimpses of the characters I know from the separate Dear Canada books. And two by Jean Little! Can’t wait to see what Anya’s up to!

  2. Christmas to Remember sighting

Just had a great conversation with three little (Grade 3?) students all carrying “A Christmas to Remember,” on their way to class. They thought it was some kind of magic that I actually knew some of the authors that were in the book. It was like saying, “Oh, yeah, me and Santa Claus, we used to play on the same hockey team…”
